Teaching Our People Foreign Languages? Ying Zheng, Have You Lost Your Mind?!

When his last hair dies on a German machine-tool manual, Lin Tiezhu, an eighth-grade master machinist, drops into Xianyang Palace with the “Foreign Language PTSD Revenge System.” An ancestral file in his left hand, Chinese pinyin in his right, he plans to weld the borders of the Great Qin into a global broadcasting station

“Wherever the sun and moon shine, Qin speech shall be heard! Can't understand it? How about a package deal: flintlock rifles and The Analects?”

The Xiongnu recite poetry in exchange for blast furnace blueprints, the Western Regions take the Chinese proficiency exam to get guaranteed jobs, and Roman envoys sob as they copy out The Book of Lord Shang…

Ying Zheng pats him on the shoulder. “Minister Lin, I want you to weld the language of this realm into something that really rings!”
