A sweet female voice played on repeat over the PA: “Next stop: Kisaragi Station.”

He felt the back of his head, which was perfectly intact. “So getting shot in the head by a serial killer is the entrance exam?”

The window exploded. A man with a long braid leaned inside, his gold-rimmed glasses chain brushing Pu Muyu’s cheek.

“Found you, baby~” Shanjianshan’s red eyes glimmered in the dark.

Pu Muyu grabbed a fire extinguisher and swung it at his face. “Couldn’t you fucking use the door?!”

“Where’s the fun in using the door?” Shanjianshan dodged with ease, casually crushing a vengeful spirit crawling toward Pu Muyu. “Your personal tour guide, ranked number one for bad reviews, here to handle anyone who gives you trouble.”

“Does that include treating my low blood pressure?” Pu Muyu looked at the scattered remains of the spirits. “The way you clear monsters, you’re just like a husky trashing the house.”

Then he found the truth in fragments of his memories:

Shanjianshan was a “false god” trapped in a System bug, perched at the top of a web and smiling. “You want to cross over to the other shore?”

He snapped every strand of web and pinned Pu Muyu inside a blood array. “I’ll burn through hell, and you want to become a Buddha?”

His bloodstained fingers traced Pu Muyu’s Adam’s apple. “Your other shore... can only be me.”

Pu Muyu calmly tugged at the web around his ankle. “So that’s why you dress up like a ghost and lurk by my bed?”
