An engineer from Shanghai arrives at the site of a sports stadium project in Africa, part of China's overseas aid program, only to discover that he's been set up. Thousands of miles from home, in a foreign land, this mild-mannered scholar faces a dilemma with no easy way forward or back. What will he do? Can he complete his mission? What stories will unfold as he spends a long time among the local Black people? And how does he end up returning to Africa later on to work in mining?
