A modern woman transmigrates by accident and becomes Wei Yanwan, whose fate in The Story of Yanxi Palace is full of misfortune. She knows the tragic ending that awaited the original Wei Yanwan, and cannot forget how unusually drawn she was to Jinzong while watching the show, especially the look in his eyes beneath the umbrella on that rainy night, full of unspoken tension that made her heart flutter.
With danger lurking at every turn in the palace, she resolves to rewrite her fate. Armed with her knowledge of the plot, she approaches Jinzong, and the two go from cautiously using one another to gradually falling for each other and offering mutual support. She discovers Jinzong’s secret: he is actually a false eunuch. This hidden identity makes their flirtation all the more forbidden and passionate.
Seeking both self-preservation and greater power, Wei Yanwan steadily rises with Jinzong’s secret help, going from an unknown palace maid to a favorite at the Emperor’s side. They carry on a clandestine affair in the shadow of imperial authority. She uses incense to lure the Emperor into a hallucination, while she and Jinzong secretly spend intimate time together. Even more daringly, she becomes pregnant with Jinzong’s child, but passes the child off as the Emperor’s, making the baby a hope for the future succession.
Along the way, they must deal with the open attacks and hidden schemes of the imperial harem, as well as the shifting intrigues of the court, all while keeping their forbidden love alive. The towering palace walls imprison countless people, but they cannot confine two hearts that depend on each other. With power and love intertwined, and schemes entangled with true feeling, can they protect one another and make it to the end in this merciless palace?
The identities of the characters are very different from those in the show. I feel I'm not very used to it, but they have to be very good and attractive. Many of the pronouns in it are wrong. Are concubines and nobles at the same level? The queen calls herself Aijia. Isn't Aijia the Queen Mother? Since it is about time travel in the book, why does each concubine have a different identity and the status of her mother's family? Jia's concubine, a foreign woman, turned into a wealthy Fucha family. What a outrageous plot.
Very well written!!! Jin Zhong and the heroine's tug is so cool
