Zhou Shangqing (the cold and ruthless general of the Nanhua dynasty, the pursuer) × Chen Yu (a frail, sickly young master, the pursued)
Chen Yu, whose life is going wrong at every turn, gets into a sudden car accident and inexplicably transmigrates! And not only has he transmigrated, he's ended up in an unfinished novel!
As soon as he arrives, he's married off to General Zhou Shangqing, rumored to be cold, ruthless, and quick to kill.
Chen Yu uses his advanced knowledge to grow rich and even helps Zhou Shangqing strengthen his army... Meanwhile, Zhou Shangqing starts looking at him differently.
Zhou Shangqing thought the wife he'd married on a whim would be nothing but a useless ornament. But as they spend time together, he realizes that's not the case. Chen Yu is nothing like the rumors, and every few days he hits Zhou Shangqing with something astonishing.
Later, they discover that not only is Zhou Shangqing's identity more complicated than it seems, but Chen Yu's identity involves more than simply transmigrating into a book.
Did he transmigrate into a book, or is there something else going on...
A general who later turns cold and forgets his roots, and his goofy lover, who is very slow to catch on.
“Zhou Shangqing, you said that as long as I stayed, you'd always be with me. You can't break your promise.”
“Chen Yu, I'm sorry. I... may have to break that promise.”
