Scorching Disasters: I Return to My Mountain Village to Build a Bunker

In the summer of 2025, an unprecedented global heat wave swept across the Earth. Temperatures soared, permafrost melted, and ancient viruses and parasites that had lain dormant for millions of years emerged once more. An apocalyptic disaster built on parasitic infection and mutation crept silently into the world.

Chen Luo, a third-year university student, died in the tenth year of the apocalypse from heat, thirst, and a “blood threadworm” that had burrowed out through his spine. Then, by some twist of fate, he was reborn three months before the disaster began.

Carrying ten years of hellish memories, Chen Luo resolutely took a leave of absence from school. With all his savings and startup funds he had “borrowed” through special means, he returned to his family’s old home, a mountain village deep in the Qinling Mountains.

Under the strange looks and jeers of everyone in the village, including his parents, he began a mad project: excavating an unfathomably deep underground fortress in the barren hills behind his house.

“The city kid’s gone stupid from all that studying!”

“He’s giving up a perfectly good education to come back and live like a caveman?”

“Useless brat! He’s drained every last bit of his parents’ savings!”

Faced with rumors and insults, Chen Luo said nothing. He simply answered with even more outrageous actions. He knew that when the sun turned demonic and the earth became an oven, the people mocking him would do anything to claim a place in his “cave.” And in his underground fortress, he would establish an order of his own, watching the people above ground put on one absurd spectacle after another.
