Amid the concrete-and-steel urban jungle, Lin Wanxing is an ordinary office worker whose rough edges have been worn away by life. By day, she slacks off and works overtime at a “996” internet company, enduring her boss's workplace gaslighting and her coworkers' cutthroat competition. But when night falls and the city's neon lights come alive, she sheds her office-drone disguise and becomes a demon-slaying Taoist priestess, heir to the ancient Xingyue Temple tradition. Armed with a peachwood sword and carrying the Xingyue compass, she roams the city's shadows, slaying demons and protecting the peace of the human world.
