I cured Gu Yu’s autism by talking his ear off. The Gu family no longer needed me.
It took only a few years for me to go from being like a second set of parents to the shameless chatterbox in Madam Gu’s eyes.
Only Gu Yu still held me in his arms late at night.
“Don’t listen to them. I love hearing you talk.”
That is, until one night at a banquet, I heard Gu Yu tell a friend,
“Teacher Lin is so gentle, unlike certain people who chatter away in my ear every day.”
His friend replied, “If you’d met Lin Weiwei back then, you’d probably have recovered ages ago.”
Gu Yu didn’t deny it. He just looked out the window and met my gaze as I stepped outside for some air.
He didn’t explain.
I walked over and took off the wedding ring he had made for me himself.
“Let’s get a divorce.”
He froze for a moment, then nodded almost at once.
“Okay.”
But why did he regret it on the day we got our divorce papers?
