In the mid-21st century, local conflicts occurred frequently around the world (competition for oil fields in the Middle East, resource division in Africa, and power competition in Eastern Europe). Private military companies (PMCs) became the main force in the "grey zone", undertaking security, raids, and intelligence tasks that were inconvenient for the state to intervene. The rules of the industry are cruel: mission comes first, life and death are at stake, loyalty is only worth commission, and betrayal is the norm. The "Black Crow" company where the male protagonist works is famous for its high risks and high rewards. Its members come from retired special forces and desperadoes from various countries, and are controlled by mysterious capital behind the scenes.
