This book tells the life of Zhao Shouye, an underground party member, who had three heavy intersections with the prison bars: before liberation, in the Kuomintang prison, he endured torture to cover the escape of his comrades, and remained unyielding; after liberation, he was unjustly imprisoned as a "secret agent" until his injustice was overturned; during the catastrophe of the Cultural Revolution, he was again unjustly wronged and imprisoned. When he was finally rehabilitated and released, he was already in his sixties, plagued by ailments and spent the rest of his life in the hospital. Even after experiencing so many hardships and injustices, Zhao Shouye has never complained about the party, and has demonstrated the sincerity and loyalty of a Communist Party member with his lifelong persistence and dedication.
