The Flowers and You That Summer

Lotus flowers set the scene in *That Summer, the Flowers and You*, weaving together a tender story hidden in the passage of time. During a group class, Xiaoyun meets Xiaotang when she sees a picture of lotus flowers that matches the pond at her grandmother's home from her memories. From the light touch of their fingers as they pass a pen from the seats in front and behind, to their unspoken understanding as they wait together while a certificate is temporarily put away, and then to the quiet stirrings of affection beside the lotus pond in the wetland park, they hide their tentative feelings behind the excuse of being "brothers" and gradually fill their hearts with little moments from everyday life. Just as lotus flowers never rush to bloom, their connection slowly unfolds amid the fresh fragrance of lotus leaves, until the two find sunshine in each other's gaze. This is a story about waiting and meeting, and it tells you: the best kind of fate is when, as you admire the scenery, someone happens to be looking at you.
