The Shame of Jingkang

In the first year of Jingkang, the Jin army came to the city for the first time. Song Qinzong panicked and sued for peace, ceding territory and paying compensation. After a brief respite, the Jin army invaded again. The Imperial Army of the Northern Song Dynasty was vulnerable and the city of Tokyo was destroyed. The two emperors Hui and Qin were imprisoned, and tens of thousands of people including the royal family, concubines, and ministers were taken captive and went northward, suffering all humiliation. During the "Sheep-Leading Ceremony", the noble emperors, generals and ministers in the past were trampled on their dignity like animals; the women in the harem were wantonly humiliated, or became military prostitutes, or died miserably. This period of history serves as a warning to future generations not to be lazy in times of prosperity and to be prepared for danger in times of peace.
