Jiang Wan, the illegitimate daughter of the Vice Minister of Rites, captivates everyone at the selection with a breathtaking Falling Blossoms Dance, only to be swept into the hidden currents of the imperial palace.
She thinks all she can hope for in this life is to be a well-behaved palace consort. Little does she know that the lofty emperor has already hidden a white jade plum-blossom hairpin among her gifts.
**“If you like this realm, Wan'er, then I shall rule it alongside you.”**

When she falls into a deadly trap, he storms the Cold Palace at night, sword pointed at the Imperial Consort: “Harm my Wan'er, and your entire clan will be executed!”
When she gives birth to twins, a boy and a girl, he cradles the babies and kneels beside her bed, weeping uncontrollably. “Wan'er, we'll never have another child...”
