The Abandoned Baby Girl and Her Family

This novel is adapted from a true story. There is no transmigration, no formulaic plot, and none of that cheap thrill of pretending to be weak before revealing your strength. It tells the real story of ordinary people’s lives and human nature, so if that bothers you, proceed with caution.

At ten years old, I discovered that I was a stray child someone had picked up. But as a little girl, I didn’t dare ask about my origins. I never expected that, in a very unusual setting, my identity as an abandoned baby girl would be revealed at the worst possible moment. When the mystery of my birth was finally solved, I was completely stunned…

On one side was my birth mother, and on the other, my adoptive mother. Both seemed to have shown me kindness as deep as a mountain, yet both also seemed to regard me as nothing more than a pawn. The complexity of human nature left me at a loss about what to do.

After enduring so many hardships, I finally understood: only by striving to become a beam of light can we keep the darkness of human nature from controlling us.
