The Great Zhou dynasty has fallen, and its last emperor, Qin Ziying, is left to stand alone.

To protect his clan and his people, Qin Ziying endures humiliation and surrenders.

Little does he know, this choice will make him wish he were dead.

Ji Qianfeng, the King of Dongting, is a hypocritical and sinister man. Determined to break Qin Ziying's pride, he offers him up to Xiang Xianqiang to protect himself.

Xiang Xianqiang, an old noble who styles himself Prince An, is brutal and paranoid. Qin Ziying's elder brother had his grandfather executed for corruption, so Xiang sees Qin Ziying as a target for revenge.

Ji Qianfeng uses a scheme to sow discord, and Xiang Xianqiang is defeated and killed.

A petty thug transforms himself into the ruler of a nation, swearing to drag Qin Ziying from his pedestal.

Qin Ziying also wants to die with the Great Zhou dynasty, but his enemy holds his brother's only child, leaving him no choice but to fight to survive.

Can Qin Ziying, caught between a brutal warrior and a sinister schemer, survive, protect the infant, and restore his country?
