There was no light in the Black Abyss.
Only death, frozen into billions of floating shards. They were as thin as thoughts, yet their edges were sharper than the most vicious curse. They silently sliced through the void, and through Disai. A pale blue shard of law, its edges lined with teeth, drifted past his left arm like a ghost. There was no sound, only the icy sensation of flesh and bone being instantaneously separated. His dark golden divine blood had barely begun to well up before the shard greedily drank it all. A barely perceptible glimmer of satisfaction passed across its surface.
Pain had long since sunk into the depths of numbness. Disai didn’t even blink.
More death surged toward him: twisted silver slivers whispered of spatial distortion as they tried to cleave him in half; tiny gray crystals, steeped in the malice of slowed time, took aim at his eyes. The Black Abyss’s eternal “welcome.”
