When I Found Out I Was His Stand-In, I Aborted the Baby and Left Him

When I was eighteen, I gave myself to Lu Jingchuan, a man ten years older than me.

In business, he was known as the “cold-blooded King of Hell,” but with me, his possessiveness was almost pathological.

When I came down with a high fever in the middle of the night, he carried me into the hospital, then glowered at the doctor and demanded, “Get a female doctor to examine her.”

He left kiss marks on my collarbone, yet forbade me from wearing anything with a neckline below it.

Even his private social media account was called “Nian Yu,” and his villa was filled with elm trees.

I once foolishly thought that was proof he loved me.

Then his secretary blocked my way outside my bedroom.

Her eyes and brows were gentle, and the corners of her lips turned up in a smile. She looked about fifty percent like me.

But she was the spitting image of my late mother.

She flung a yellowed diary at me. Its pages were packed with Lu Jingchuan’s unrequited love for my mother.

“Sang Yu, do you think Jingchuan loves you?”

“The only person he’s ever loved is your dead mother.”

A warm liquid ran down my legs.

So, along with my love for Lu Jingchuan,

our first child was gone.
