Synopsis

When the land lies broken, true men rise.

In 1937, the guns at Lugou Bridge shattered the peace of North China. Chen Feng, a company commander in the Northwest Army, was a rough-and-ready soldier who would rather break than bend. With his unit defeated and his superior missing, he refused to retreat south. He gathered the scattered survivors and recruited volunteers, raising a ragged but unbowed resistance force amid the Japanese invaders and their puppet troops.

Chen Feng fought with a kind of madness: **Even when he knew it was a dead end, he would still bite off a piece of the enemy!** Cunning as a fox, he used the terrain and laid clever ambushes, making crude methods strike with tremendous force. Fiercely protective of his men, he would brave any danger to save a brother in arms, yet he was also headstrong and treated red tape as meaningless. This unconventional force struggled to survive through blood and fire, defiantly roaring its resistance at the invaders by the most direct means.

A twist of fate brought him together with Fang Yuan, a political commissar of the Eighth Route Army. This bespectacled scholar, firm in his beliefs, brought new ideas: discipline, organization, and people's war. A warrior and a scholar, one unruly and the other steady, they clashed and struggled to find common ground. Chen Feng thought Fang Yuan was a meddler; Fang Yuan worried that Chen Feng was too reckless. Yet through battle after battle, in the crucible of anti-siege campaigns, and in their shared grief at seeing civilians slaughtered, they gradually came to understand each other: Chen Feng's courage needed Fang Yuan's steady hand, while Fang Yuan's ideals needed Chen Feng's blade. **Together, they embodied the true spirit of the “Sword Drawn”: not merely the triumph of the brave when enemies meet on a narrow road, but the soul of a nation that loves its homeland, fights with both courage and strategy, and never regrets giving its all.**

I'm Seriously Out of Books to Read

I really love stories like Ye Qiao Fengxi. I'm using voice input, so there may be typos. The books you've recommended are definitely good, but the problem is I've already finished them. I've read everything good on the recommendation lists too.

Book Emergency! Please Recommend Some Good Reads

Fellow readers, I think we may have a problem. I want to read ongoing stories, but I also want to read completed ones. A lot of the time, the ending feels too easy to guess, so I lose the sense of novelty, but as soon as I see that a book is marked complete, I can't bring myself to read it. Can anyone help me solve this problem? It's urgent.
