In the glitzy yet complicated entertainment industry, Lin Tao and Su Ran are two aspiring young directors struggling against a cruel reality. Lin Tao had once enjoyed a measure of fame, but after refusing the illicit demands of investors, he was framed for plagiarism. In a single night, his reputation was ruined, and he was left jobless and down on his luck. Su Ran, meanwhile, is just starting out, full of passion but constantly running into obstacles.
At an important audition, Lin Tao unexpectedly comes into possession of a mysterious necklace. Soon afterward, Lin Yue, a woman whose behavior is decidedly strange, appears. Acting on orders from the forces behind her, she repeatedly sabotages Lin Tao and Su Ran’s directing careers, blocking their access to resources and damaging their reputations.
At a crucial moment, the Entertainment Industry System activates and issues timed missions, such as livestreaming to clear up rumors or securing a starring role for a top-tier actor. Completing missions earns growth rewards based on popularity and fan engagement, while failure brings punishment.
Faced with time-limited System missions, pressure from the entertainment industry’s tangled web of interests, and the malicious interference of rivals, Lin Tao and Su Ran find themselves torn: should they accept the industry’s unspoken rules to gain resources, or hold fast to their artistic principles as directors? Caught in a maelstrom of public misunderstanding, they use their wits and courage to overcome one crisis after another.
Yet the road to success is strewn with obstacles. As they strive to make a hit, they must not only bear the pressure of the System’s missions, but also the pain of friends leaving because of misunderstandings. Can they overcome every obstacle and realize their dream of becoming directors? And what crucial role will the mysterious necklace play? The answers remain uncertain.
