A tropical disturbance forms over the northwestern Pacific and unexpectedly awakens memories of a past life as a human living in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. Longing for that land, it takes on the identity of Typhoon Lynx and begins a fantastical journey across the Yangtze River Delta.
From the wondrous peaks of Yandang Mountain in southern Zhejiang to Shanghai's skyscrapers, from the rain-soaked lanes of Suzhou's gardens to the ancient walls of Nanjing, it uses wind and rain to touch every familiar detail anew. Along the way, it feels the clash of nature's forces and witnesses humanity's awe of disasters and determination to fight them. It also reveals an instinctive gentleness amid the region's landscapes and culture: slowing its winds as it passes temples and letting a light rain fall over ancient towns.
As its energy runs out and it nears dissolution, this “gentle visit” has woven together the grandeur of nature and the region's civilization in a symphony, leaving behind a unique mark of rebirth, longing, and reconciliation.
