In the late Qing, the country was in chaos and the people were suffering. As snow fell thick and fast, countless refugees froze or starved to death by the roadside. The young protagonist was one of them, wandering from place to place with his father, enduring hunger and cold. Just when they were about to give in, an unexpected opportunity arose: the protagonist’s father and older brother sold themselves and went to Nanyang to survive, while the protagonist was left in the capital and, through someone’s connections, sent into the palace to become a little eunuch. Though young and naive, he somehow stumbled into good fortune and met his adoptive father. Through a series of twists and turns, the protagonist, who had been circumcised, was sent to the palace as a eunuch. He had been there only a few days when the foreign devils invaded the capital and the Empress Dowager fled. His adoptive father resolutely stayed behind in the palace to guard the household in her absence. And so the wheels of fate began to turn. The story of three eunuchs unfolded: a senior eunuch, a young eunuch, and a fake eunuch. Their fortunes rose and fell along with the times. Born in the late Qing and raised in the Republic of China, the protagonist eventually fled to Hong Kong. From fake eunuch to spoiled playboy to secret resistance fighter, once the dust had settled, he escaped to Hong Kong and hid among the gangsters, becoming a peaceful underworld boss. In his life, the protagonist was a starving, freezing refugee, a naive fake eunuch, a spendthrift playboy, and the owner of a rickshaw company. He also wielded twin pistols to wipe out Japanese invaders, then went to Hong Kong and opened a restaurant for the gangsters, much like the Peace Hotel.
