The game was co-created by Dark Souls producer Hidetaka Miyazaki and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin.
The story is set in the "Borderland". Players take on the role of an exiled "Faded One" who returns to his homeland after the core "Elden Ring" is broken. He challenges the demigods who rule the six regions and collects the ring fragments to become the new king.
The plot unfolds through fragmented narratives, involving the intrigues and betrayals between the eternal queen Malika and the descendants of the demigods, forming an epic group drama.
