Dream of the Red Chamber: Sailing the Vast Sea

The Jia family has been raided. Lin Daiyu is coughing up blood, Xue Baochai is about to be married off, and the tragic fate of countless women is right before them! But this time, they refuse to sit back and accept it. Under the farsighted Tanchun’s plans, they gather the last of their kin and their hopes, board a mysterious great ship named Wangshu, and set sail for the vast ocean.

It is a gamble like no other. The frail Lin Daiyu will use her silver tongue to play the political game of alliances and intrigue. The dignified Xue Baochai will become a decisive iron-fisted captain, commanding with composure amid the roar of cannon fire. And Jia Baoyu, once a “leisurely young master,” will take up herbs and tools to become the fleet’s only naturalist and engineer.

Storms, sea monsters, betrayal, cannon fire… The ocean is full of danger. But they will also discover that once they escape the cages of “family” and “Confucian propriety,” the world is far wider than they ever imagined.

This is both a seafaring epic with an ensemble of powerful women at its heart and a freedom anthem steeped in the spirit of the East. Watch as the people of the Dream of the Red Chamber rewrite its tragic ending into a founding legend blending naval warfare, economic development, and technological progress. At the edge of the world, they will build an ideal nation called “New Jinling” and deliver the most spectacular revenge to all the contempt and injustice of the old world!
