A Military Wife's Departure

A tribute to military wives.

A military marriage can bring blissful romance, but it can also mean spending more time apart than together and quietly enduring the separation. Whatever happiness looks like, behind it lies the wholehearted devotion of military wives: shouldering life’s daily burdens alone, tucking their longing into the lamplight of the late-night hours, and offering a gentle shoulder to keep the home front steady for the one far away. Their love is warm with the comforts of everyday life, yet weighty with devotion to family and country. It deserves to be remembered.

Of course, some marriages are happy, while others fall short. Every unhappy marriage has its own reasons. Lin Xiaoyu may think she chose the wrong path back then, while Wu Lei may feel Lin Xiaoyu was too immature. But whatever the case, they both once tried to make their life together work. People marry in pursuit of happiness, and sometimes they part because they hope to find a freer kind of happiness.

May Lin Xiaoyu, and Wu Lei too, find the peaceful marriage they each long for.
