Autumn in the Capital Meets a Warm Light

Set at a university, this story follows two young people who conceal their wealthy family backgrounds: Zhou Xiaoyu, a literature student from the south, and Lin Yu, a senior in the local computer science department. They deliberately set aside their privileged identities and meet as “ordinary students.” Over four years of campus life, they go from strangers to familiar faces, from friends to confidants. Their unspoken understanding is hidden in the little things, while their probing glances are concealed behind their secrets. At last, beneath the warm autumn sun in the capital, they acknowledge a love that has nothing to do with wealth and everything to do with their true selves.

Female lead: Zhou Xiaoyu

The only daughter of a top business magnate in the south. She hides her family background to get into the literature department and makes a point of keeping her everyday life down-to-earth.

Personality: Cheerful and a little scatterbrained, often losing things. Gifted at literature and sensitive to words.

Male lead: Lin Yu

Personality: Steady and rational, but especially patient with Xiaoyu’s absentmindedness. He quietly saves her seats and fixes her computer.

Supporting characters

Zhang Meng: Xiaoyu’s roommate. Blunt and perceptive, she notices something is going on between them. She’s their emotional sounding board and helps bring them together.

Zhao Lei: Lin Yu’s childhood friend. A wisecracking guy who helps Lin Yu find out what Xiaoyu likes and has his back when it matters.

Bai Ruoxi: An art student who knows Lin Yu’s identity and likes him. She looks down on Xiaoyu and becomes a catalyst for their romance.
