Rising to the Heavens: Huang Chao's Radical Rewrite of History

(Centered on strategy: dueling schemes, intelligence, alliances, diplomacy, military affairs, civil administration, geography, and military industry)

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony in the Bird's Nest, the terrible student Huang Chao was born. He was uneducated, skipped school, and got into fights. The only thing he loved was the guns and cannons his veteran grandfather taught him about. A gunpowder accident in his grandfather's backyard workshop killed him, and his soul transmigrated to 884 CE, to Wolf-Tiger Valley on Mount Tai. Huang Chao was then at the end of his rope, his strength nearly spent.

The new Huang Chao took command in a moment of crisis. Facing certain defeat, he acted decisively, killed the traitors to steady the troops, and swiftly rallied the remnants. Drawing on the skills his veteran grandfather had taught him from a different era, he reorganized the rebel army: he prioritized farming and mulberry cultivation in domestic affairs and governed with benevolence to win the people's support; on the battlefield, he planned ahead and made clever use of strategy; in diplomacy, he forged alliances, turned rivals against one another, and welcomed talented people.

His ambition was to rescue the people from misery, and he swore to overthrow the late Tang.

He would sweep away the separatist forces such as Later Liang, forge a new empire, end the approaching chaos of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms through his own efforts, and protect the people from the ravages of war.
