In the mysterious Mistveil Continent, everyone's shadow is a unique Shadow Spirit, a reflection of the soul and a vessel for emotions and memories.
A Wu is a girl no one notices. Her Shadow Spirit is Last Ember, a half-winged moth that gives off a faint glow, much like her dim past. One day, its light condenses into a golden feather, awakening fragments of A Wu's memories, lost for ten years: on the day her parents vanished, bloodstained feathers drifted through the mist.
A Jin was once a Shadowguard. Now he wanders alone, accompanied by a Shadow Spirit in the form of a silver wolf with a broken leg. The wolf no longer howls proudly, and the half jade pendant around A Jin's neck fits perfectly with A Wu's half.
When the black mist of shadow corruption surges from the Shadow Spring, the Shadow Spirits begin to run wild. A Wu realizes that a great secret lies behind her parents' disappearance, while A Jin remembers how, three years ago, he broke his wolf's leg protecting A Wu.
On the final day of the mist, with sunlight about to pierce through the haze, they confront their buried memories and discover that the Shadow Spirits' imperfections are, in fact, marks of love.
