Ghostly Rides: An Urban Ghost Story About a Courier

The capital is rife with an urban legend about the “Phantom Cab”: passengers who get into an empty cab late at night always disappear. Zhang Shan, a middle-school graduate, laughed it off as a joke over drinks, until one night after working overtime, a blue taxi silently pulled up in front of him. The window rolled down. Three blurry figures sat in the shadows of the back seat, the same influencer couple who had gone missing the week before. As Zhang Shan trembled and took a picture of the license plate, a selfie suddenly popped up on his phone screen. The background showed the back seat of this very cab. The photo's timestamp said it was taken ten minutes in the future.
