The Little Monk's Travelogue

Kong Wu, a young monk at the Wuyou Temple in the clouds, keeps dreaming that someone in the human world is crying.

He sneaks a cloud off the mountain, hoping to make those people smile.

He brings rain to a village suffering from famine and tells everyone to stop sacrificing girls to the river god. When he sees a fox demon with a broken tail feeling sad, he shapes a new tail for it out of clouds.

Along the way, he hears a mountain god's tales of the past and helps trapped spirits work through their troubles. Gradually, he discovers that most of the chaos in heaven and on earth comes from everyone getting too hung up on things.

Later, when powerful immortals try to throw the world into chaos, Kong Wu learns that he is the precious child born of heaven and earth, with the power to hold everything in place.

In the end, the fox demon, a storyteller, and even the immortals who once opposed him all come to help. Sitting on a cloud, the young monk smiles. "Look, all those crying faces have turned into stars. When it hurts, smile, and then it won't hurt anymore."
