Fan Shengmei Is Reborn as Hua Fei and Spoiled Beyond Measure

At the moment when her brother Fan Shengying's calls demanding money left her barely able to breathe, Fan Shengmei thought she would spend yet another exhausted night sitting motionless on the sofa in her rented apartment until dawn. But when she opened her eyes again, an ornate, gold-trimmed palace lantern dazzled her, and the cold touch of the prayer beads around her wrist made reality unmistakable. She had become Hua Fei, Nian Shilan, the stunning beauty of Empresses in the Palace whose story ended in tragedy.

Most absurd of all, just as she instinctively tensed up, bracing herself for another round of exploitation by her “older brother,” snow ginseng sent from the border and a letter saying, “Don't worry, I'm well,” gave her her first taste of being cherished by a brother. The man with the same face as Fan Shengying, Nian Gengyao, turned out to be her strongest support in the deep palace.

In her former life, she was Fan Shengmei, struggling in the mire of her dysfunctional family, with a brother who sucked her dry like a leech. Now she is Nian Shilan, making her place amid the splendor of the Forbidden City, with a brother who protects her.

Carrying Fan Shengmei's memories and scars, she became Hua Fei.
