Her family cherishes her like the apple of their eye, never realizing she isn’t an ordinary baby. She’s a primordial glutton who treats the world’s baleful energy like cotton candy and deadly curses like dirty toys. The Jiang family’s rivals, the Yan family, hire a practitioner of Nanyang black magic to lay a curse that will wipe out their entire family. All of Hong Kong City waits to see the Jiang family fall apart. Yan family big shot: I’ve laid a perfect trap. The Jiang family is doomed! The Jiang family: It’s over. There’s no way out this time! Jiang Baoning: Who put dirty, cloudy ice cream on my ceiling? Gross! I’ll eat it! And so, the most vicious family-annihilation curse in history became a little lucky baby’s after-meal snack. The Yan family never understood, even as they died, how all the malice they had carefully sent the Jiang family had become nourishment for them. And the cold, handsome boy Lu Zhi, whom the Jiang family had adopted and who would one day wield power across Hong Kong City, was carefully wiping the corner of his childhood sweetheart’s mouth. “A Bao, slow down. Don’t choke.”
