In Newport City in 2077, memory is no longer private property, but a commodity that can be read, repaired, and even tampered with. "Memory artist" Ling Jing is the top being in this field. She can sneak into the depths of other people's broken consciousness and unearth, repair and reconstruct those lost fragments of time like an archaeologist.
Once, she accepted a difficult commission: sneaking into the deeply comatose brain of Shen Xu, the chief data architect of Xingqiao Group. Shen Xu became a vegetative state after an "accidental" car accident, and the encrypted data unit he carried with him also mysteriously disappeared. The client asked Ling Jing to find the whereabouts of the data unit, or to "print" the key data directly from Shen Xu's memory.
However, when Ling Jing entered Shen Xu's vast sea of consciousness, she discovered that it was not a ruin, but a strange world where logic was reversed and time flowed backwards. Fragments of memory are played in flashbacks, with each flashback taking one step further away from the moment the "accident" happened. Ling Jing must go upstream along this broken river of memory and piece together the truth before Shen Xu's remaining consciousness completely dissipates.
At the same time, an invisible enemy is also lurking in this sea of memory. It turns into Shen Xu's deepest fear, constantly hunting all outsiders. Ling Jing not only has to fight against the erosion of his mind, but also avoids deadly pursuit. Her journey is an escape into the past, and the end point points to a shocking secret that can overturn the entire city. When the starting point and end point of memory coincide, the truth is also the beginning of destruction.
