Sixteen-year-old Xiaoxing leads an ordinary life in Stardust Town. He loves Pokemon, but the shadow of his missing father keeps him from becoming a Trainer, until he meets an injured Charmander.
Xiaoxing rescues and catches the abandoned Charmander, only to discover that it is different from other Pokemon: it can understand human speech and wields a special kind of fire. This becomes the starting point of his adventure.
Encouraged by his mother and his childhood friend Xiaoguang, Xiaoxing decides to take on the Pokémon League challenge and sets out with Charmander on a journey to become a Pokémon Master.
On the way to the first Gym, Xiaoxing is attacked by the mysterious Shadow Group. They seem to have plans for Charmander’s special abilities.
At a critical moment, Charmander unleashes unprecedented power and defeats the enemy. Xiaoxing, too, reveals a talent for communicating with Pokemon through their hearts, hinting at a greater secret waiting to be uncovered.
