In the twenty-third year of the Republic of China (1934), Jinmen City was an important town in North China. The current situation is turbulent, with foreign forces, local bureaucrats, and emerging capital intertwined. Railways, as the lifeblood of great powers plundering resources and warlords competing for hegemony, are expanding crazily. The main scenes of the story: a gloomy and chaotic railway construction site, a concession area full of colonial traces, a decaying and dilapidated government office, and an old canal house shrouded in mist.
