She goes by the codename Nightingale. A member of a secret occult organization who moves through the shadows, she handles the "troubles" beyond the ordinary world. After a mission goes wrong, a serial killer finds her.
He is elegant and immaculate, with a child's need for affection and a giant's gentleness. He is also a monster who sees murder as an art. He calls her "Koshka," the name of the kitten in his fantasies.
And she is a broken soul she cannot bring herself to abandon.
Her past...
"My life belongs to you."
He pressed a loaded revolver into her hand, then smiled as he aimed the barrel at his own heart.
"Little white cat, will you live in my heart?"
The story is fairly low-key at first, but you can wait for the male lead's backstory to unfold around the middle. Sweet at first, then heartbreaking. Happy ending. Both leads are gentle souls.
