A series of bizarre violent incidents and “mass hysteria” break out in a border town. The victims display extraordinary aggression and strange sensory experiences, then rapidly grow weaker. The protagonist, Lin Feng, is an experienced anti-narcotics officer sidelined after a failed operation. When he is transferred back, he discovers that all standard drug tests come back negative.
