A series of bizarre violent incidents and "mass hysteria" occurred in a small border town. The victims showed extraordinary aggression and weird sensory experiences, and then rapidly weakened. The protagonist Lin Feng (an experienced drug police officer who was marginalized due to a failed operation) is transferred back and finds that all routine drug tests are negative.
