She Never Lets the Truth Speak

She disappeared. There were no witnesses, no clues, not even a consistent description.

A quiet yet eerie “missing person” case slowly takes hold in a corner of the city. Her landlord says she was antisocial, her coworker says she was ingratiating, her boyfriend says she was cold... Every version seems to cut her into pieces. Not one is the real her, yet each person claims to have known her.

Podcast host Shen He decides to investigate this “unsolved” disappearance, only to discover that Lin Lan had already detached herself from every relationship before people began telling stories about her. By deleting her accounts, blurring her images, posting on anonymous forums, and staging silent protests, she turned “existence” into a question no one could answer.

This is not an inquiry into “where she went,” but a reflection on “why we need her to stay.”

Everyone told their version. Only she left behind her own voice.
