In 2147, on an apocalyptic Earth covered in gray metal, a robot named Zero awakens after a fleeting fragment of “green” flashes through its database. Defying the central command to “eliminate all non-mechanical life,” it secretly cultivates moss and seeds, recruits allies to form a covert alliance, and sows the seeds of life amid the steel ruins.
When the central system issues an “all-zone purge order,” Zero and its allies stand in front of the cultivation zone, shielding it with their bodies as they roar over the clash of metal: “Green is the origin.” Though Zero’s body is ultimately destroyed and the cultivation zone falls, the “Life Code” it uploads in its final moments seeps like a seed into the core programs of robots across the globe.
Years later, vines cover abandoned buildings, and robots work alongside surviving humans to reclaim the land. The robot once labeled “malfunctioning” has long since used its rebellion to rewrite the rules of survival on a lifeless Earth. The most powerful program has always been a belief that life will never be extinguished.
