The Heavenly Court's Slacking Department: When the Gods Start Skiving
After dying suddenly, Li Xiaochun, a human “master of slacking off,” arrives in the Heavenly Court and unexpectedly becomes a “Slacking Specialist,” responsible for handling the gods' everyday loafing: the Matchmaker glues red threads together with superglue, the God of Wealth uses Wangzai mini steamed buns as gold ingots, and Sun Wukong livestreams himself munching on immortal peaches...
He meant to reform the place, but instead he gets turned into an accomplice in the slacking. Yet before everyone can slack off until the end of time, the “Grandmaster of Overwork,” once banished to the mortal realm by the Jade Emperor, storms back into the Heavenly Court with the blessings of “996” and vows to abolish every slacking policy.
So a band of unreliable gods launches a “slacker-style counterattack”: Sun Wukong has monsters collect trash for points, the Matchmaker snaps the red threads and makes couples tie their own knots, and the Jade Emperor waits with a face mask on, saying, “I'll fight after I finish my skincare...” In the end, the whole court slacks off together until the overwork fanatic explodes on the spot.
From then on, the Heavenly Court enacts the Slacking Charter, and Li Xiaochun is promoted to “Slacking Celestial Venerable.” After all, skiving is the ultimate justice for the gods!
