Marvel: Check-In from Queens

Mo unexpectedly transmigrates to Queens in the Marvel Universe and becomes bound to a Mutant Ability Sign-in System. Every year, he randomly gains a superpower belonging to a Marvel Mutant. From initially being able to “phase through walls” to later gaining Cyclops’s optic blasts, weather control, telekinesis, and even Wolverine’s healing factor, his life keeps swinging between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

An ordinary owner of an auto repair shop, he wants to keep his head down and get by. But one unexpected event after another brings him into contact with Peter Parker, who has yet to become Spider-Man; Bobby, who has ice powers; Rose, who can control plants; and a group of ordinary but warmhearted local residents. From fighting street thugs to facing Dark Elves, space scavengers, and even Thanos’s vanguard, Lin Mo gradually realizes that the greater one’s power, the stronger the desire to protect.

He uses Cyclops’s optic blasts to carve pumpkins for the neighbors, telekinesis to repair the roofs of elderly residents, weather control to make rainbows for the children, and his healing factor to shield his friends. Beyond the grand battlefields of the Marvel Universe, he builds a line of defense of his own in Queens.

This isn’t a story about saving the world. It’s about how a group of ordinary people use superpowers to protect the warmth of everyday life: the kindly old Mrs. Martha baking cookies, Ted making documentaries, a dog named “Shield” chasing after a frisbee, and the flowers of solidarity blooming once more among the ruins.

When Thanos’s snap makes half of all life disappear, Lin Mo becomes Queens’s last holdout. Carrying the memories of his friends, he waits and fights among the ruins. In the end, he joins forces with the Avengers and uses every power he gained through sign-in to bring the lively warmth of everyday life back to Queens.
