"Blue Rose and the Unsent Letter" is a healing emotional novel with "regret and redemption" as its core. Through the interweaving of an unsent letter that has been dusted for many years and a bouquet of mysterious blue roses, it connects two periods of life across time and space, and explores the eternal propositions of unrequited love, regret relief and self-reconciliation.
Story background and core imagery
The story begins in the early summer of 2025. Lin Wanqing, an antique restorer living in "Wutong Lane" in the old city, accidentally discovered a faded velvet box while sorting out her late grandmother's belongings. Lying in the box was a letter with no stamps and no address. The handwriting was thin and gentle, and it was signed "Ah Zhao". In addition, there was a dry blue rose, the edges of the petals were wrinkled with age, but they were carefully preserved in cellophane.
The blue rose and the letter were like a key, opening up Lin Wanqing's memory of her grandmother's youth - it turned out that her grandmother Shen Zhiyi was not an "old tailor in the alley" who had a smooth life. She was once a talented student at the Academy of Fine Arts in the 1990s, but due to an accident, she was completely misaligned with the life of her beloved. And that blue rose was the unspoken code between her and "A Zhao".
Two-line narrative: a dialogue between past and present
The novel uses Lin Wanqing's perspective of restoring old objects as the "present line". At the same time, through the gradual emergence of the contents of the letters, it goes back to the "past line" of the university campus in 1997. The two timelines intertwined like a tapestry, revealing a past event buried by time:
