I stared fixedly at Jiang Hu. He was bending down to pick up a Hongmei cigarette butt. Hearing what I said, he slowly straightened up. The dark red stub between his fingers suddenly began to seep a bright red drop of blood.

“Do you remember...” As he lifted his foot, the puddle suddenly spread beneath it. “Why do you smoke Hongmei?”

It was such a nonsensical question that I was speechless. He didn’t wait for an answer. Jiang Hu went on,

“Why am I smoking Hongmei now?” His voice sounded choked with emotion.

The blood in my body froze instantly...

Could Jiang Hu be smoking it for the same reason I did? Didn’t he always smoke Guihua? That seemingly simple question jolted me back a step.

“You... what do you mean? Don’t scare me... You know I’m not afraid of a bluff...”

I didn’t dare think any further, because I felt certain that whatever he said next, I wouldn’t want to hear it. The feeling was overwhelming...

“You’ve remembered, I see. That’s right, it’s just as you think. A Ji liked this brand best, didn’t he?” Jiang Hu said, staring blankly at me.
