Set against the wars of the Republican era, Dawn’s Farewell focuses on the underground struggle. Yan Anyu, a Communist, uses her identity as a returnee from overseas to publish articles opposing imperialism and the Kuomintang. Ji Cichu is a fellow Party member operating undercover within the Kuomintang, secretly passing along intelligence and carrying out special missions. On a treacherous intelligence battlefield, their shared faith and mission bring them together. Sometimes they work in perfect sync to pass along vital information; at other times, the fog surrounding their identities leads to misunderstandings and conflict. Amid constant danger, they navigate the line between loyalty and disguise, writing a tale of espionage shaped by faith, perseverance, and covert clashes, and revealing the passion and sacrifice of revolutionaries in a turbulent era.
