Yinzhen's Beloved Taoist Master

I am the only daughter of the Duke Who Guards the Nation’s household.

At my third-day celebration, all the capital’s high-ranking families came to congratulate me, their beloved treasure.

My maternal grandfather, the State Preceptor, stroked the space between my brows and let a drop of crimson-gold blood fall there. “This child bears the destiny of the Mystic Sect.”

The Crown Prince gave me a jade pendant patterned with a phoenix. Fourth Prince Yinzhen, however, secretly slipped me an old jade pendant engraved with the character “Zhen.”

My mother, full of worry, collected all the gifts, leaving only that old pendant.

“This jade is tied to your fate,” she sighed. “Keep it safe, and never let it leave your side.”

Years later, as the nine princes battled for the throne amid rivers of blood, I wielded a jade seal to suppress evil spirits and calamities.

On the night the new emperor ascended the throne, he tightened his grip around the jade seal at my wrist. “When I slipped you that pendant, I already knew you were mine.”
