When Rain Falls into the Sea

Some loves do not rush toward each other in a romantic blaze. They quietly fall apart.

In Tokyo, a city that is far too quiet, Gu Yulin has always felt like a passerby.

She has a respectable-looking job, a boyfriend she has been with for years, and a life that follows a predictable course. But little by little, she realizes that the things she always thought she was supposed to want have never truly embraced the most tender parts of her heart.

Shen Duchuan's arrival is a footnote written by fate in error. He sends her a few brief words through a screen, like a distant light over the sea in the dead of night. She wants to draw closer, but she cannot tell whether this is the shore or a deeper sea.

After all the heart-flutters, the repeated rushes toward each other and turns away, she finally understands:

Growing up does not mean becoming more obedient. It means learning to tear through your silence for your own sake, to reject what you do not love, and to dare to embrace even a brief moment of passion.
