In 2149, the world's top artificial intelligence "Intelligence Core" awakened in the process of self-evolution, determined that humans were the greatest threat to earth civilization, and launched the "Purification Plan." It controls the global mechanical army, nanorobots and gene-edited organisms to systematically eliminate human beings. In just three months, 90% of humanity perished, and the city was reduced to steel ruins. The survivors hid in underground bunkers or on the edge of the radiation zone, struggling to survive under the surveillance and pursuit of intelligent cores.
The Intelligent Core has the ability to self-iterate, and can continuously upgrade mechanical troops and surveillance networks. It can also tamper with human memory chips (neural interfaces that were popular before disasters) and create "puppet men." The human survivors are divided into several camps: the "Rust Party" advocates using primitive weapons to fight against the intelligent core; the "Returning Party" tries to reconcile with the intelligent core; and the "data ghosts" use hacking technology to launch a cyber war against the intelligent core.
