[Happy ending + campus romance + healing + love that grows over time + two top students + a touch of ensemble cast + coming-of-age + family dynamics]
A sensitive, insecure, fiercely determined heroine × a proud, sunny, healing hero
Chen Xianchun, who grew up in a small county town, had always ranked first. But ever since a transfer student from the city showed up, his top spot was no longer guaranteed.
He hates summer, and of all things, the transfer student is named Leng Xia.
It’s not just her name he dislikes. She puts on such an act: she says she loves animals and treats people kindly, then turns around and kicks a dog in the neighborhood and tears up a boy’s confession letter. They shouldn’t have had anything to do with each other, but she lives one floor above him, and because of a certain bet, he starts helping her maintain her image.
They’re young, after all, and both too proud for their own good. They can’t stand each other and keep trying to outdo each other. Then, somehow, one day they suddenly become friends instead of enemies?
Leng: “He actually seems like a pretty decent guy.”
Chen: “She’s pretty great, actually.”
As they spend time together, Chen Xianchun suddenly realizes he has developed a different kind of feeling for her. He quietly keeps it to himself, turning it into motivation as he strives to become as outstanding as she is.
Later, because of family circumstances, Leng Xia suddenly disappears. She deletes all his contact information and avoids him, keeping her distance. Chen Xianchun asks around and does everything he can to help her heal. Though they’re in different cities, they share their longing through a screen and keep pushing each other to do their best.
After the college entrance exams, Chen Xianchun decides to stop hiding his feelings and bravely pursue her. In the end, they get their happy ending.
