"North of the City" is Su Tong's work that deeply explores his "early" life. Through the writing of the four main teenage characters, each brings a series of absurd and bloody adventures. These four teenagers spent some naughty time together. But before crossing the threshold of adulthood, they each experienced life-changing events: one was imprisoned for rape, one died in a gang fight, one eloped with a married woman, and the last one inexplicably became a hero because of "reporting on the spy." There are unspeakable family secrets and obscene and lewd physical games here. The ghost of the girl who died unjustly lingers, red hearts on wax paper are scattered in the rainy night, and the charming slut goes through many twists and turns, abducts her little lover and flees to another country...
