Introduction to Gu Senzhuan
Born in the land of western Yunnan at the turn of the century, Gu Sen's life was full of hardships from the beginning - his parents were persecuted by landlords and his family was destroyed. Fortunately, he was adopted by Liu Renyi, a Taoist priest from Heifeng Mountain, and he was able to find a place in troubled times.
He never failed to live up to the upbringing of his adoptive father. After studying hard and becoming a talent, he went to Japan to study. After returning to China, he took over the gold mining business of his adoptive father (also father-in-law) on the China-Myanmar border. With his keen mind, the gold mine prospered in his hands, but it came to an abrupt halt due to local geological disasters. This turning point turned out to be an opportunity for him to abandon business and join the army.
After being arranged by Liu Renyi to attend the Yunnan Army Lecture Hall, Gu Sen rose through the ranks in the military, from a major battalion commander of the Kuomintang to a general division commander. The wonder of fate lies in the reunion - he met his childhood playmate Zhang Lowshan, and thus embarked on a more secretive path. After his introduction, he secretly joined the Chinese underground party, hiding dual beliefs under his military uniform.
During the war of resistance against Japan, Gu Sen's flexible tactics became a thorn in the side of the Japanese army, especially Major General Taro Inoue, who hated him and was helpless. This general who traveled between the Kuomintang and Communist camps and the underground front wrote legends on the anti-Japanese battlefield with his unique combat style. However, he died heroically at his command post during the Japanese raid in the Battle of Zhongtiao Mountain in 1941, and his life was fixed on the anti-Japanese front line.
From an orphan to a Confucian businessman, from a general to an underground party member, Gu Sen's life is intertwined with personal struggle, family and country justice, and the tide of the times. His tragic ending adds to the weight of a heroic epic.
